Some tooth implants are more involved than others. In the aftermath of periodontal disease or tooth loss, shifting occurs in the jawbone. Due to the shifting and shrinking of the jaw in these cases, patients who want dental implants or even bridges often do not have enough jaw space to accommodate these devices. One solution to this problem is called a sinus lift. A sinus lift is a surgical procedure wherein the sinus membranes are shifted upward and new bone is added to extend the jaw and make room for the new dental appliance.
